Nigerian Adventures
I have had fascination with Africa for as long as I can remember; the culture, the food, the music and thebeautyand harshness. I also knew it would be a continent I would visit. My first trip to Africa, Nigeria to be precise, was in October 2009. I was selected to take part in the IBM Corporate Service Corp program. The program is IBM’s answer to developing leaders who have the skills needed for a globally integrated, smarter planet exposes employees to the 21st century context for doing business and emerging markets outside the traditional office. (See my first blog entry Nigeria- 22 days & counting! if you want some more details on the program.)
My blog details some of my preparations in Scope & Scams and experiences on my remarkable and life changing first trip to West Africa with IBM. These range from the fun and social in Things That Make Us Tick, to the more serious issues; Nigeria’s. And the shock of a return to a very western lifestyle in Return to Australia; Culture Shock.
My initial bouncing out of my chair excitement hasn’t subsided as I eagerly wait for my fast approaching departure for round two. Again, I’ll be turning my back on the usual routine, taking on what ever comes my way.
I’ll be writing a post to give a summary of what I will actually be doing while in Nigeria. So, if your new to this adventure, stay tuned and you’ll be up to date on the who, when, when, where and why’s in no time.
Let me know if you have any feedback, or things you would like to see more of as I move to phase two of the journey.
